The Language Factory & Oxfam

The Language Factory is pleased to announce its support of Oxfam and the amazing work it does throughout the world. Thanks to our clients, we are proud to have been able to donate over £60,000 to the charity organisation and its many worthwhile projects since 2005.

Over the last 4 years, we have made contributions to projects in Rwanda, Tanzania and Brazil. More recently, we have been supporting Oxfam's work in Malawi.

Seventy thousand people die of AIDS-related illnesses in Malawi every year. Orphaned children, young adults and elderly people are left to support their families and care for those who fall ill. This results in young people working to grow food and look after homes instead of studying or doing paid work. If there is not enough food grown, and no money available to buy it, the threat of starvation is very real. Meanwhile, state health services are overwhelmed and cannot provide adequate treatment.

Using a holistic approach, Oxfam is working to support families affected by HIV and AIDS through training of home-based carers, prevention education, providing people with new skills to earn a living and helping people to grow more food resulting in higher levels of nutrition.
